Wellbeing at Mitcham

This term, Nancilee, our Student Wellbeing Support Officer, has been busy introducing Kimochis to our Reception classes. Kimochis is a program designed to support children in developing their social skills and help them recognise and express their emotions constructively.

The word Kimochi means "feeling" in Japanese, and each Kimochis character comes with a few small pillows displaying an emotion on one side and a corresponding facial expression on the other. Through engaging activities and stories, students are learning to identify their feelings, build empathy, and develop the skills to navigate social interactions with confidence and care.

As part of our lunchtime clubs, board games under the pergola have become a popular way for students to spend their lunchtime. These group games provide students an opportunity to relax, have fun with peers, and strengthen friendships. This area has become a welcoming space for connection and laughter, enhancing students' social skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

We look forward to sharing the ongoing positive impact of these programs and others throughout the year!
