Same First Day Enrolment Policy
Since 2014, if your child turns five before 1 May, they will start school on the first day of term one. If your child turns five on or after 1 May, they will start school on the first day of term one the following year.
There is no leeway to the Government policy (eg. the child missed out by two days, etc).
Consistent with other Department for Education policies around proof (eg. proof of residency for high school), Southern Adelaide Region is implementing Proof of Age. This will ensure there is no disparity in the transition from preschool to school, and absolute clarity for the family.
Mitcham Primary School requires one of these forms of documentation to accompany your child’s enrolment form.
Southern Adelaide Region - Proof of Age document selection:
- • Full birth certificate
- • CAFHS Blue Book
- • Passport
- • Visa
- • Adoption certificate
- • Naturalisation or citizenship certificate
- • Guardian of the Minister (GOM) documentation
Policy update and review
The school council and staff regularly monitor and review the effectiveness of the Enrolment Policy (at least every three years) and revise the policy when required.
